What should I do if my water heater is leaking?
Close the cold water supply valve on top of the tank, or the main valve if you can't. Turn the heater off, photograph the tank, label and damage, and call 515-216-4293 any hour. Slow leaks often reach subfloor or the ceiling below, so moisture meters show how far the water went before drying.
Is it a slow leak or a sudden failure?
A sudden failure is easy to see. A slow leak often shows up as warped flooring, stained baseboards or a musty smell, and the water may have reached subfloor or the ceiling below. Moisture meters show how far it went.
